Keeping Guard Up
I have the worst habit of keeping my guard up. Even around close friends. I'm so nervous about getting judged for saying something weird, so I'll keep my mouth shut a lot of the time. People can just be so cruel.....agh.

I also get nervous about being friendly towards other girls. I'm not real feminine, much more of a tomboy. So I always assume they'll think I'm flirting with them. Sad Oy.

What did I just read? I have no idea what to make of this...

Yeah I know how it feels to be shy around people though. Sad

RE: Keeping Guard Up
I get that same feeling. Like as though I am going to say the wrong thing and will put them off. It is like every remark is a risk and saying the wrong thing will get you laughed at, criticized, or being disproved of. Even friends do that kind of thing sometimes and it is scary.

Especially when you don't feel like you fit in.

I guess the only thing I can suggest is just to take a risk and say things anyways. It might hurt when they disapprove or criticize you, but it is worth it to be able to talk to people.

Really hard to do and sometimes I fail at it

Of course, you have to stand up for yourself or you won't get anywher in real life. It's hard when it comes down to that choice though I'll admit.

RE: Keeping Guard Up
I used to be that way then I quit giving a shit. If I fuck up, I fuck up. It happens and if people are going to be snobs about it, you've exposed their true character and you can move right along with your day. If your friends give you shit, they're - I hope - just messin' around.

Code:
if (!this) return false;

If not they're not really your friends.

RE: Keeping Guard Up
Sometimes friends have to give you shit however. Think a good friend is someone who tells you how it really is. If you can't take it, then you can't be good friends either.
